If you’ve read the books, then you already know the answer to the question in this post title. But I’m not talking about the outcome of the story and whether or not Katniss Everdeen actually rises to be the Mockingjay Rebel Leader the 12 districts now look to her to be, and whether or not they are actually able to overthrow The Capitol and the almighty President Snow. No, what I really want to know is if this movie, Mockingjay, is actually going to prevail? Will it win us all over and be a box office hit?
I may be in the minority with my opinion, but I was greatly disappointed by the first movie, The Hunger Games. Yes, I read the book and I realize that’s part of my problem. Very rarely does a movie adaptation of a book come up to snuff, and for me The Hunger Games certainly did not. There was too much pertinent information missing. Scenes left out that should have been there. I did sit back and take a second look at this movie, and tried to view it through the eyes of someone who may not have read the book, and I still feel like there was just too much of that ‘something special’ missing.
Catching Fire was a better movie. Maybe some lessons were learned from the first movie, or maybe it was because to read Catching Fire didn’t give me the same page turning enthusiasm as The Hunger Games did. Though I do have to say the 75th Hunger Games and 3rd Quarter Quell with Victors vs Victors was a nice twist. Too bad it backfired on Snow…
And this is where we are now. Katniss has quite literally shattered The Hunger Games forever, and now finds herself waking up to Gale telling her that she is in District 13, and that District 12 no longer exists. What happens next?
Uh…. huh? Why is Peeta Mellark standing next to President Snow, and looking quite healthy? We know that Haymitch was not able to save Peeta. We know Katniss tried to attack Haymitch over this. But, could Peeta have switched sides?
Book readers will immediately be able to point out the flaw in this trailer, but for the sake and dynamic of the movie I really like this trailer. It’s simple, yet the illusion is powerful.
BEETEE!!!! One of my favorite characters in the book, in the height of his element and doing his part for District 13 and the cause.
The Mockingjay LIVES! And again, readers will be able to spot the flaw in this second trailer. But don’t you really just want to throat punch Snow after watching?
Never been more UNIFIED?? You’re kidding me, right? Who are you trying to fool right now?
Again, I can’t help but love this trailer. Snow speaks of never being more unified, and what I see is an army surrounding him which only proves that unity has slipped from his grasp.
I see Peeta and Johanna next to Snow, yet they are obvious shells of the Peeta and Johanna that we know. Sure Johanna’s ferocity makes a brief appearance, but her spark is not there.
The Capitol wraps their lives around the lives of the Victors, surely they would notice this?
Our Leader The Mockingjay.
Did the Hunger Games not break her? Voice shaking, she says she will fight. Survive, though, is another story.
This is the trailer that really gives the teaser to the movie, and from the looks of it I do not think I will be disappointed. We know that Katniss has a lot of work to do, and I have no doubt that in the movie we will see her get right to it, but still with a good mixture of her own personal emotional battle.
After seeing the first movie, The Hunger Games, I wasn’t really left starving for more and wasn’t sure if I’d really want to see the rest of the movie. Watching Catching Fire gave me hope. These trailers have brought back my faith…
