This is a sponsored post by Personal Creations. My love of the Grinch and all ideas and thoughts are mine.
One of the most exciting things in this house every holiday season is The Grinch movie night. The night begins with each of our boys opening their new ornaments and hanging them on the tree. I started this tradition when they were born so that when they go off on their own and put up their first tree, they will have years of ornaments to start with. The second part of the evening is opening their Christmas pajamas. I buy the silliest ones I can find. And then? The best part of the whole day. We settle in with our homemade treats and start The Grinch.
This year thanks to Personal Creations Grinch movie not got a heck of a lot more fun. Who knew personalizing could be so fun?
We are OBSESSED with this movie. We talk about it all year. As in, “when will it finally be time to watch The Grinch.” All. Year. Long. To make ourselves feel better about the wait, we are constantly using quotes from the movie. For example if one of has an event to go to you can bet you will hear us say, “But what will I wear?” Or if we are watching something heartfelt or hear a moving story, someone undoubtedly will say, “Max. I’m feeling. What is the deal?”
Or if someone is acting as if something isn’t fair or a teen is rolling their eyes someone will ALWAYS say, “Oh the who-manity.” I could go on and on and on and on…but you get the idea. This year I got my creative on thanks to Personal Creations. The kids are going to lose their minds. But, shhhhhhhh, don’t tell them. We are waiting for Keenan to get home so he doesn’t feel left out. Here’s hoping none of them wake up each morning and can’t wait to read MomSmack. Bwahahahaha!
No party would be complete without popcorn. We are popcorn connoisseurs in this house. Our 17 year old loves to experiment. He has turned it into an art. He starts with a microwave popcorn (we like to keep it easy) Then he might add; Salt and pepper. Salt and sugar. Cayenne pepper. Chili powder. Different kinds of candies. You name it, he’s tried it. Looks like the Grinch is hosting this party with all of his favorite characters. Smart by him to remember the narrator don’t you think?
My favorite kind of popcorn is in this delicious candy-fied kind. How adorable is this “bowl” by Personal Creations? You could put Merry Christmas or you could get creative and put one of your favorite lines from the Grinch. The popcorn recipe is via Cooking Classy.
What holiday movie night would be complete without a hot cocoa station? None. That’s the correct answer. I used our most favorite Grinch quotes to spice up these mugs. “Now pucker up and kiss it Whoville.” “I’ll hunt you down and gut you like a fish.” “Bleeding hearts of the world unite.” I don’t know how I am going to be able to box these up after the holidays. I love them too much.
Holiday. Hoobie. Whatty. We must say this at least twice a week in our house. It’s reserved for those moments when someone mixes up their words.
Hot cocoa. Check. Popcorn. Check. Treats? Yes please. I make it easy. No baking. Rice Krispie treats. Just use the recipe on the box. After they cool off push red and green m&m’s in on top.
These cupcakes are equally as simple. I buy pre-made cupcakes without icing. I buy the pre-made icing from the store and add a little green food coloring. Ice the cupcakes and then top them off with a ball shaped peppermint. Looks like you worked for hours.
A little Grinch punch anyone? This recipe is via Here Comes the Sun. Simple and delicious. The kiddos will love it! I have been wanting a a mason jar style beverage dispenser. This one from Personal Creations is awesome!
The lid? Another quote of course.
And then…there’s the mason jar glasses.
You’re a foul one, Mr. Grinch, You’re a nasty wasty skunk, Your heart is full of unwashed socks, your soul is full of gunk, Mr. Grinch, The three words that best describe you are as follows, and I quote,
“Stink, stank, stunk”!
