We all know summer is coming, school will soon be out and small faces will suddenly be popping up at home more often than usual. While having the company is fun, it can present challenges unique to a pleasant consumer experience. If you’re like me, you have small children that aren’t always adorable for protracted shopping sprees. Therefore, I’ve compiled a list of some of the most amazing online shopping outposts I frequent.
I recently made my first purchase from this UK based site. Not only did they call from London when I emailed about a concern, shipping was free (duty wasn’t, but, what’s a little duty between “friends”) and their presentation was GORGEOUS.
Pro’s – Exemplary customer service, fantastic selection of clothing that won’t leave you feeling like you’re watching yourself coming and going (everyone else has what you have) curated collections for a variety of “looks”, FAST DHL shipping!
Con’s – You will have to pay a duty fee since the goods come from the UK.
With high-end fashion for everyone in the family, this one-stop shop has something for everyone.
Pro’s – Easy to work with, free express shipping, huge selection of well known and up and coming designers.
Con’s – A touch more on the expensive side (but comes with white glove service).
A perennial favorite of mine, this Fashion blockbuster has highly edited collections, stylist insight, high-end as well as more reasonably priced items that all come together for a look that is 100% your own.
Pro’s – Free ground shipping coming and going (if you have to return items for any reason), easy to navigate, more merchandise than you could browse if you had days to do it, customer service is phenomenal.
Con’s – I can’t really think of a downside to this site, I am a loyalist.
It’s not know as the Netflix of fashion for nothing! This NYC based service will let you BORROW (yes, borrow) pieces and return them after you’re done for a fraction (10% roughly) of their retail price.
>Pro’s – like having access to your favorite floors at Bergdorf, without paying the exorbitant price. You can select your choices up to six months in advance.
Con’s – You have to become a member to use the site.
Not just shoes anymore, Zappos offers clothing, beauty items, accessories and shoes!
Pro’s – Always free shipping and returns (if you’re a VIP member, then it’s free express shipping and returns), HUGE selection, great prices and a couture site to boot. Incredibly user friendly, great customer service.
Con’s – Not a lot of exclusives to Zappos (you may see your friends sporting your look).
This “monster” UK based fashion/beauty powerhouse allows you to shop new and pre-owned clothing with over 850 brands to choose from.
Pro’s – Quite possibly the largest selection you will find anywhere, period. Free shipping both ways, frequent discounts for purchases over $200, “Fashion Finder” allows you to create a custom ensemble. 10% off for students (a nice perk).
Con’s – There’s a lot going on on this site and it’s a little “crowded” for my liking at times.
There are so many other worthy sites that I didn’t include. These sites along with Shopbop, The Outnet, Modaoperandi, Farfetch are my favorites. Personally, with such accessible customer service agents, free delivery and returns, I’ve replaced Mall outings with online shopping for almost all my fashion needs. As long as you know your brands (or follow the size guides), I can’t think of a single reason to spend a day inside a shopping mall when I can be enjoying my day, my family and my life doing other things. As in every thing, we all have to decide what works best for us and follow our own path Whether it leads you online or to a line, I hope all your retail therapy is pleasant. Happy hunting.
