With just one week left until school starts, my family will begin the mad dash of getting the paperwork filled out, school supplies and clothes purchased, wrangling the kids back into a decent bedtime and MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL…our Back to School Contract. This will mark the 11th year in our home of doing back to school contracts. Our oldest is now 19 and the only contract I have with him is a verbal one that says how much money I will send him every month. (But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t still try to get more.)
I am amazed at how quickly the time has gone. I am starting this contract with Colton our eight year old this year, the exact age I started it with Keenan and now *POOF* he is in college. Soon enough I will be cashing in my my sweet little boy’s Scholarshare account to cover his college tuition and sending HIM a monthly allowance. And also beginning an epic sized midlife crisis. For now, I am in denial and am grateful to be monitoring his tv time and making him do his homework. (Most of the time.)
This Back to School contract is an amazing parenting tool. It takes away the arguments. It’s in writing. They signed it. They either want to hang out with their friends on the weekend or they don’t. They are in control of their weekly destiny.
Just click on the contract to print.
