This is a sponsored post on behalf of Wilson Sporting Goods. My love of family and football are all my own.
I don’t know about you but Father’s Day sneaks up on me and I find myself scrambling for a gift that is something better than a tie and looks as if I have at least put some thought into it. Every year I miss the mark. Men are hard to buy for. To add to the pain, if your husband is anything like mine, he buys what he wants for himself. And? While power tools will always be his first love, I rank a distant second, I have no idea what power tools to buy him. That would be like him trying to figure out which shoes would best fit my feet. Two things are at play here. He has no idea which shoes to buy and most significantly I do not ever want him to know the amount of money I spend on my shoes. The same applies to his power tools. We have both, without ever saying a word, agreed to never ask.
This year, however, I NAILED it. My husband was an amazing football player in high school. Did we go to high school together you ask? No. I know this because he never misses the chance to tell me. I could recite his entire high school career. Especially the final loss that should never have been a loss, the missed catch and the sleepless nights reliving it. And while I roll my eyes and tease him relentlessly, I love hearing the stories. Almost as much as I love watching him play with our three boys. Throwing a football is a favorite pastime in our home. The moment you stand upright in this house is the moment you are taught to grip a football. Years of passing balls has led to years of bonding. Father and son sharing a common interest, laughter and conversation. It doesn’t get better than that.
When I found out about this customizable football from Wilson Sporting Goods I knew I had finally found the perfect Father’s Day gift for my husband. You can customize by NFL team. As we are a house divided, (Me & Keenan: Colts, Husband: Cowboys, Colton: Broncos Noah: Who Cares) I chose to forgo the NFL team and stick to something less controversial. This football is a gift from our youngest son as he is now embarking on his first flag football team. You can see in the photo above I had his name and Papa (a.k.a. dad or daddy in most homes) and their birth years. When it arrived Colt jumped up and down with excitement. He couldn’t wait to give it to his Papa for Father’s Day, so we opened it early. Colt thought it was the coolest thing to know that he had a Wilson Sporting Goods football just like the pros! Since 1941, Wilson Sporting Goods has made the Official Game Football of the NFL. Pretty darn cool.
This weekend they took it down to the beach and broke it in. Colt came home thrilled to show me all the new plays he had learned. The slant, skinny post, five yard out, quick hitch, and seam. My husband came home beaming from ear to ear. One more boy he gets to spend years bonding with over football. Yes, this year I nailed it and you can too!
