I like to think I’m a good mixture between Martha Stewart and Clark Griswald when it comes to decorating the house for the holidays. I love to adorn the whole house in decorations.
The guest bathroom has coordinating towels, soap dish, seat cover and rug.
The kitchen has lights lining the counter top around the breakfast bar, and ornaments hanging from the light fixture. Candles (battery op kind) and a small wreath in the kitchen window.
The living room has no set style or arrangement, which is where I’m probably more one the Griswald side of the fence. The tree is lit with two different sets of lights, and a collection of ornaments that have come into our lives since the year my husband and I were married. All with their own memories attached to each and every one. Mix-matched decorations are set up all over; entertainment center, walls, shelves and so on. Another wreath on the wall.
A wreath is also on the front door of the house, and one on each door to the individual bedrooms.
Wreaths. Can you tell I like them? I feel like they are an easy way to decorate for any holiday, or season, and make anywhere from a very dramatic or simply elegant impact in your home. And since this year I’m just now finishing up with the unpacking from our move and don’t have my usual array of Christmas decorations out that I normally have on display, I have to say I’m very proud of the wreath (sadly only one) I made this year.
I started with a 12” Styrofoam wreath, and used silver tinsel garland wrapped around it. Then decorated it with blue glittery balls and beads. Simple, yet very pretty if I do say so myself. Super easy to do, and so many ways to personalize it to your own liking. ( a big Thank You to my son for holding it for pictures. LOL )
This one I call my Winter Wreath, instead of my ‘Christmas Wreath’ because I’ll have it up all winter long. I love having decorations that I can put up and use for a season, and not just for the few days that a holiday lasts. Granted, I start to decorate for Christmas the weekend after Thanksgiving, but I’m always sad when New Years day rolls around and I find myself taking all of my decorations down. It’s nice to have a few that I can leave up.
This wreath is one of them.
From our house to yours, wishing you all a most Happy Christmas and Festive Holidays!
