White Wine Steamed Clams

steamed clams

I LOVE steamed clams!! I order them at restaurants all the time, but preparing them at home has always seemed intimidating. I’m now kicking myself that I didn’t try and make them sooner. They’re so simple to prepare and are the perfect appetizer for a summer dinner party.

Ingredients
  1. 5 pounds of Fresh Littleneck Clams
  2. Fresh Parsley
  3. 3 cloves of Garlic
  4. 1 1/2 Cups of Chardonnay
  5. 8 tablespoons of butter
  6. 1 Lemon
Instructions
  1. Melt 8 tablespoons of butter in a large pot over a medium heat.
  2. Once the butter is melted add diced garlic and leave on medium heat for about 10 minutes.
  3. Add wine and bring to a solid boil over a medium high heat.
  4. Once sauce is boiling add diced parsley and clams. Turn heat back to medium and cover pot with a lid.
  5. Steam clams between 10 and 20 minutes, stirring occasionally until the majority of the clams are open.
  6. Any clams that have not opened should be thrown away.
Notes
  1. To serve place clams in a large bowl and pour sauce over them. We serve fresh and toasted baguettes. The white wine sauce is too good not to dip the bread in!
