Are you all sick of me talking about the Flashmob on twitter yet?
When I first mentioned to my husband that I was not only planning on performing a flashmob at Blogher, but I was going to start the flashmob! He didn’t have the most encouraging response.
Him – Are you sure you want to do that?
Me – Yes, why not?
Him – What if everyone chickens out and no one stands up with you?
Me- Um, I hadn’t thought about that.
Him – You’re pretty brave, I wouldn’t do that.
He was very supportive and he even came down on Saturday night to celebrate with me. He was incredibly proud of me so I forgave him for making me crazy.
I wasn’t feeling very brave after that conversation. I’ve danced my whole life. I’ve performed in front of small intimate audiences and in front of 80,000 people. Never had I jumped up in front of 3000 women during a lunch break.
So after a month of video taping, answering questions about dance moves, counts, where to be, what to wear, holding streaming rehearsals, and a few private and not so private freak outs the time had come.
Those first few counts are a blur. I felt like I was just up there flinging my arms.
I knew Mary and the rest of the first group joined in when screams and cheers got louder.
I was so nervous I rushed the dance at first, but when I actually saw these amazing women at my side I relaxed and found my grove.
With out a doubt this was one of the best moments of my life. Right up there with getting married to my husband and bringing my daughter home from the hospital. I cry every time I think about it.
Mary, I will never be able to express how much you mean to me. Thank you so much for all your hard work. This would have never happened with out you! And guess what! We were trending in San Diego! Squee!!!!!
Anne, Thank you for contacting Mary and letting us into your group and basically taking over. You are an amazing leader and one of the most incredible people I’ve ever met!
Everyone else, I want to mention everyone of you individual, but I’m worried I’d forget someone, you are all part of my tribe now! We will forever be linked by #OperationGlory.
I was so excited to hit publish, I forgot to mention… The photos were provided by the amazing Lindsey aka Modchik. Lindsey, I would like you to follow me around everyday and document my life. You make me look good!!!!
Also a giant Thank You to Mary’s husband Steve for taking time out of his day to film Operation Glory. Love you!
