This is a sponsored post on behalf of the Microsoft Surface 3 but my adoration and desire to buy it for my son are all my own.
My second son is heading off to college next year and we have been trying to figure out what to get him for graduation. Our criteria was something useful and also something he would enjoy. A beautiful engraved watch he would keep forever? Great idea. Except, he wouldn’t keep it forever. A couple of college parties and there goes that expensive watch. Money? Always a great gift. Right up until month two of college when it’s all gone.
I was stumped and asking parent after parent for their ideas. They all kept saying the same thing. A watch or money. Truly. Every single one of them. Then I heard about the Surface 3 from Microsoft. It’s the perfect college gift for so many reasons. And I will be sharing those reasons with you. But of course.
It’s in my price range.
The Surface 3 starts $499.00.
It works like a laptop. With an attachable keyboard (sold separately) you are off and running. It comes in tons of fabulous colors. The Surface 3 runs a full version of Windows 8.1 and will upgrade to 10.0 when it’s available. That means you can run anything on the tablet. As if it was a full size computer.
It’s small enough to take to all the above listed places unlike a laptop that is heavy and takes up too much real estate in your backpack.
It has TEN hours of battery life. A full day of classes and you are STILL up and running.
My son was recently diagnosed with a visual processing disorder. He can remember (“like a boss”) anything he hears. Every movie line ever spoken? He knows it. Every word to every song? He knows it. Put it in a Powerpoint presentation or write it on the chalkboard? Nothing. With the Surface 3 he can record all of his lectures. Especially if he sits in the front row. All sorts of winning going on there. Even without a visual processing disorder recording lectures is an excellent idea for all students.
It has a pen. (Sold separately) Said pen can be used to take notes on the Surface 3, draw funny faces on friends’ photos, capture screenshots, highlight text, etc. And yes, the pen is easily replaced.
You can pre-order your graduation gift, or for any reason gift, or for yourself today! And this is really cool >> On May 5, there will be an after school Microsoft fiesta for students starting at 4pm. Each Microsoft Store will host a fiesta-themed (a nod to Cinco de Mayo) after school celebration that rewards students for working hard. Stores will offer Surface-branded swag and other prizes, as well as provide a 10% discount to students. In addition, The Microsoft Store will host Surface 3 workshops the week following to show customers who purchased the device how to get the most from the Surface 3. Genius!
Before you buy, go check it out in the Microsoft Store for yourself. It is one of the coolest places. Every time I head to Nordstrom (which is quite often) I stop in the Microsoft Store. Because it is the coolest place at the mall. Really.
