In the last 2 weeks Ellie has started a new very odd “habit”. She’s been walking around with her hands in fist. Kind of like she’s holding something, she’ll climb up on chairs, playground equipment and anything else with her hands closed into the fist. When holding onto a cup we have to remind her to open her hands and grasp the cup. She’ll only open her hand if absolutely necessary. When I ask her if her hands hurt she’ll tell me no. She’ll even open them when I ask her too only to close them again.
Is this a sensory thing? Is this just a stage? Is it a stress mechanism? Help! Any suggestions? Is this something I should bother her doctor about or is she going to think I’m crazy? I’m at a loss.
