September is here and no matter where you go, especially online, you can’t steer clear from the Sons Of Anarchy chatter. First airing on September 3, 6 years ago, viewers were glued to their screens right from the start. Since then the SOA fandom has more than tripled, and will more than likely continue to grow long after this 7th and final season is over.
We’ve grown attached to, and lost, some very memorable and pivotal characters along our ride so far. Tara’s death for many was quite the shocker in the season finale of Season 6. Through all the trials she and Jax’s relationship had been put through, I really wanted to see them ride off into the sunset together. But, c’mon now people, search your heart and tell me, did you really think that would happen? No. I knew better. For one, that’s just not Kurt Sutter’s style. The only thing that would have let me believe that Tara and Jax had true hope for a future would have been Opie living. Had Jax’s best friend still been alive, then I think Tara would still be alive. As soon as I saw Opie take the brain-splattering blow to his head by a metal pipe, I also saw Jax losing the other most important rock and love in his life.
So the question that’s on the tip of everyone’s tongue that begs to be answered: Who will live and who will die in Sutter’s 7th and last season of Sons of Anarchy? Sutter has given us a small clue, and said that two SOA members will not live through the Final Ride.
Will it be Juice? Juice, oh Juicy Boy. I loved him. You just couldn’t help but love him. In a club, and world, that has more grey days than sunny ones he was a constant smile. But Juice has proven more times than I liked that he is not 100% loyal to the club. We know he’s currently on the run, but will he be caught and killed at the hands of Jax?
No. I don’t think so. First, when Sutter told us there will be two SOA members dying this season I think he’s referring to two members who are loyal to the club. You also need to keep in mind Sutter’s style. At least one of these members is going to be a fan favorite, that losing will bring us all to tears. If Juice does in fact die, I suspect it will be at Gemma’s hand in an attempt to preserve her secret. But I really just don’t think Juice is meant to meet the Grimm Reaper. I think instead he will be meeting Mr. Mayhem.
Many suspect, and almost demand, that Gemma will die this season. It’s possible, but she’s not SAMCRO. She’s just an old lady hanging on to the club through her son. My prediction for her is that she will completely lose everything; Jax, Able, Thomas, and her SOA family and have to suffer her fate of exile alone. For Gemma, this would be worse than death.
Alex “Tig” Trager is one of my favorite characters. The U.S. Marine Corps veteran has no problem with violence and pain, and has survived being on the receiving end of it; watching his daughter, Dawn, burned alive is a wound in Tig that still isn’t healed. Trager also adds quite a bit of ‘variety’ to the show with his extracurricular escapades. One thing I’ve always admired about him is how fiercely loyal he is. This season, though, I think his loyalties will be his end, and he will end up standing in front of a bullet for the club and/or one of the members in it.
Happy Lowman, SAMCRO’s current Sergeant-At-Arms, is my wildcard pick. Like Tig, Happy also has a penchant for handling the more violent assignments with little regard for the outcome. He’s loyal and always ready to get down in the dirty work for the club. Every season since he patched in I’ve been wondering if he’s the next to exit.
Filip “Chibs” Telford, who is SAMCRO’s VP, will be the death I sob and sob over. And then cry some more. Chibs is another favorite of mine, and probably falls into the #2 spot, Jax holding the #1 spot. And, no it’s not because Hunnam is a fabulous specimen of a man to look at. No, I’ve always liked Jax’s heart, determination, and beliefs in what he is doing. His journey from beginning to end keeps me captured. Chibs, though, carries a lot of the heart of the club. He’s completely loyal to SAMCRO, cares for Jax as though Jax were his own son and the club as if their blood also runs through his. This is not only his club, but his family. Remember when he doled out punishment to Juice? Chibs did what was necessary and needed, but because of his love for Juice it pained him to do it. I also think it’ll be Chibs who introduces Juice to Mr. Mayhem, and it’ll be somewhere in the last three episodes that he loses his life.
Even if I’m dead wrong on my predictions I can promise that whoever in SAMCRO doesn’t make it to the finish of the Final Ride, their losses will be felt across the nation.
Who do you think will die in the Final Ride?
