We are super excited to be working with Origami Owl on the launch of Core, their inspiring new collection. The collection includes pieces with significant names and meanings that speak to you on a deeper level… from your very CORE.
“Our mission is to be a force for good; to love, inspire + motivate people of all ages to reach their dreams + empower them to make a difference in the lives of others.”
I chose four of the charms from the Core collection that most spoke to my heart and my guiding force. I chose them because they inspire me to keep reaching and they remind me of where I have been and where I am going.
Dream Big: Believe anything is possible, never quit & know that dreams really do come true.
I have always dared to dream big. I was raised by parents who tried their best, but were in constant battles with addiction and who began their parenting journey at the age of 17. Clearly not ideal. The odds were stacked against them and ultimately my brother and I. I spent most of my tween and teen years bouncing from friends house to friends house never fitting in. When I was a junior in high school my mother and stepfather went to prison for what at the time was deemed, “the largest drug bust in the history of our state.” No one looked out for me. No one cared if I did well in school. I quit high school my senior year, got a full time job, my own apartment and went to night school to get my high school degree determined to graduate at the same time as I would have if I was still going to school with the other kids who had the privilege of going to high school. I did. I dared to dream that I would be something more. A person who would not make excuses but do something most people probably believed I would never be capable of. This charm holds more meaning than I could ever express in words. I continue to dream big.
Be Open: Let your guard down & accept the love the universe has in store for you.
This has been a tough battle for me. I don’t stay open and accept, I make things happen. In doing that, sometimes you overlook the amazing opportunities that are knocking on your door trying to get in. This reminds me to be open and allow the universe to work with me.
Kismet: Fate loves the fearless. Look to the sky & discover your destiny.
I have many fears. They rear their ugly heads daily. Fear to me is a motivator. The more I fear it, the harder I push myself to conquer it. You will never find out who you were truly meant to be if you don’t look fear in the face, respect it and then kick it’s teeth in. Fearless for me is conquering fear, not a living a life without it. In a lot of ways, my fears have made me the successful adult that I am.

You can find the inspiring story of the founder of Origami here. She began at the age of 14.
I started Origami Owl with $350 and a simple dream in mind—getting a car on my 16th birthday. When I was 14, I asked my parents for a car but they said I needed to work for it. So, with all of my babysitting money and my family’s support, I set out to start my own business and created Origami Owl.
