I love to make these black beans. They simmer for hours, so give yourself plenty of time. It’s worth it. It turns them into a texture that resembles refried beans, but without all the unhealthy crap. Just a delicious flavor. Serve with steak tacos, guacamole and salsa.
- 5 cans black beans - drained (15 oz )
- 1 can diced tomatoes (15 oz)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ teaspoon fresh ground pepper
- Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and let simmer for at least two hours stirring often. The consistency will get soft and the beans will begin to get mushy. That's when you know it's time to eat.
