With both of my kids I had scheduled C-Sections. It was actually kind of nice to know exactly when and how my babies were coming. Especially for me, control freak extraordinaire. I’m the type of person who likes to have everything organized and prepared in advance. Here’s the catch, I am a total procrastinator and my husband, well he’s is not a planner. So last year when found out we would be adding another little person to our family we had to decide where to put the little guy. My husband lost his office. Scratch that I lost my office. Mike’s office moved to my office and my office moved to the bedroom. UGH.
Here’s where the part about my husband not being a planner comes into play. One year ago today, the day before Zach was to be born, the nursery was still an office.
Some how my husband pulled of a miracle and found a fabulous painter. Let me remind you that one year ago today was a Sunday. Anyway, my husband found a fabulous painter and finally moved all the heavy office furniture out of the room. UGH!
So while the painters were hard at work, we did this…
We then came home it was time for us to get to work. Now I know what you’re thinking. Yes I know that a baby doesn’t need a perfect nursery to come home too, but this mama wasn’t going to feel ready until the sheets where on the bed and the pictures hung. Of course Ellie had to test everything out for us.
And as I sit here year later I’m grateful that I don’t look like this anymore…
I love little Zach. I can’t help but feel a little sad I can’t relive that day one last time. One last moment as a family of 3.
One last moment before Zach joined us. One last moment of the calm before the storm.
