One year ago today was Ellie’s first day of Summer Camp and it was going to be her very first sleep over. We woke up like we did most days.
Rushing around the house like a bunch of crazy people. I brushed her hair one last time and watched as she gathered all her important sleeping tools.
It was finally time to go. It would be the last time we’d walk out of the house as a family of 3.
The ride to the hospital seemed to take forever and I’m not sure which one of us was the most nervous about what was about to happen. When we got to the hospital sweet little Ellie held my hand so I wouldn’t be nervous.
She held my hand while they put my IV in and she sat quietly while the nurses worked around me. Then it was time for her to go. I’m not sure I’ve ever missed her that much.
Then the next 90 minutes is pretty much a blur, but soon there was this…
And finally this…
We were once 3 and now we are 4.
