While I would love to take credit for this, I can’t. This is the brilliance of Laura from SemperFiMomma. She is asking moms to take a few minutes for themselves five days each week to rejuvenate their mojo.
This week I am facing down taking my son to college 3,000 miles away. Our house is in escrow and we are trying to find a rental to live in until we find our next fixer upper house. Helping our middle son deal with deciding on a college that suits him and getting him ready for his first day of his junior year on Thursday. Paperwork for all three of our boys for school. Back to school shopping, ordering books, and blah blah blah the list is endless. I haven’t had a good nights sleep in days, as in I am up from 3:00 am until 7:00 am going over my to do list over and over and over and over, then I fall asleep for an hour and start my day.
While everything listed above is filled with the wonderful and I am so grateful that that is the kind of stress I am dealing with, I am truly in need of some fuel in my tank that comes in the form of small bits of time carved out for me. I liken it to that pre-takeoff instruction on the plane where they tell you to put your own oxygen mask on before your child’s. Cliche? Sure. But real. It’s what we do as moms to care for ourselves that make us better able to care for those around us.
So here are my #5Things4me this week:
1. Read one chapter of the novel that has been sitting next to my bed for three months begging me to come in.
2. Do one hour of hot yoga.
3. Go on a hike. Not the kind where I use it as a workout and run it. The kind where I appreciate the beauty and serenity of the hike.
4. Get a pedicure.
5. Take a bath. When we remodeled the house we are about to sell, I insisted that we put in the most stunning four legged bathtub because I was going to relax nightly in it. I can honestly count the number of times I have done that on my two hands. It’s been eight years.
What will you do this week to refill your tank? If you are a blogger, link up with Laura’s blog here.
