I love this picture of Ellie and I. Most days Ellie and I get along this well.
I decided to pick Ellie up from school a few minutes as special treat. I needed to go preview the new Kidville in La Costa and thought she would enjoy a little free time play there as well.
The moment I walked into the classroom she broke down and threw a fit. She didn’t want to go, she wanted to go outside to play in the dirt. ARGH!
Honestly though, I couldn’t figure out what I was more annoyed with, the tantrum or her brand new shirt completely stained with her lunch. Obviously, I couldn’t take her on an appointment looking like that.
After 10 minutes of negotiating with her teacher (which I don’t understand because there is no negotiating in my world) I dragged her out tears streaming down her face as if I had just sold her favorite puppy.
Deep breath Mom, you can handle a 4 year melt down. So after a quick stop in the clothing store for a fresh shirt we were on our way.
We get in the car and everything is fine.
For about 3 minutes.
Then I’m I hear
“Is it far?”
“Are we there?”
“Are we there?”
“I want something to play with.”
“Can we get McDonalds?”
“I thought you said it was close.”
“Why can’t we get McDonalds?”
“Mommy you’re mean! Why are you so mean to me?”
“Are we there yet?”
2 miles and 80 tantrums later we finally arrived.
I’m not quite sure what I was hoping to see from Ellie when we got inside, but I’m pretty sure this wasn’t it. She acted like a complete snot. She was loud, bratty, bossy, and just down right annoying. After 30 minutes of hell I had enough.
Me – Let’s go, it’s time to leave.
Ellie – No
Me – Ellie if you want to come back in the future we need to leave now.
Ellie – Nope I don’t want to.
Me – Fine. I’m leaving.
And then I walked out. Of course she came running, but the fact that it got to that point is beyond frustrating.
Since we’ve been home I’ve been irritated with everything she does. EVERYTHING!
Ellie, EAT OVER THE BOWL.
Ellie, BLOW YOUR NOSE
Ellie, STOP THROWING BALLS OVER THE WALL
Ellie, WHY ARE YOU MAKING SO MUCH NOISE?
Ellie, STOP WHINING!
IS IT BED TIME YET?
Wait sorry, I meant… Is it bed time yet? I need a drink.
