Paris, Paris, Paris, I say while shaking my head. Can’t you just be thankful for what you have and BEHAVE? Apparently not. Hint, you can still be famous by doing good and smart things. Just keep that in mind. Paris has created a “brand” that essentially promotes the “bad sexy girl.” She parties and drinks all the while looking fabulously sexy in her dresses, heels and yes, purses! In 2007, Hilton was sentenced to 45 days in jail for violating the terms of a DUI arrest, and about a month ago she was detained and released after being caught in possession of marijuana at Figari airport, Corsica. Now comes news of her latest idiot move, arrested for drug possession. Her business partners don’t seem to care about her past transgressions but I wonder how her latest actions will affect those relationships and if they will prevent her from attracting other partners in the future.
She is currently facing potential jail time over charges for cocaine possession. Not only is she facing the beautiful black bars and matching handcuffs, she is also facing a judgment against her for $160kfor violating the terms of her contract regarding that wonderful work of art Pledge This. Apparently she failed to do interviews with British and Russian media for the movie. I never heard of the movie, or even a whisper of the movie and I am relatively dialed in on pop culture. Anyway, she is likely looking a probation term with the possibility of some jail time but nothing drastic for the drug charge.
Back to the purse, as a woman I know first-hand how wonderful the right purse can make you feel. I know this is incomprehensable to most men; however, it is true. In Paris’ case, the right purse can be a nightmare.
According to the police report the cop who stopped the Escalade pulled along the passenger side of the vehicle and smelled “the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.” The cop writes he noticed immediately the passenger was Paris. He then observed her trying to roll up the window. Apparently the cop is dialed in on pop culture as well! During the stop Paris asked if she could go to the bathroom at the Wynn Hotel. She then told the cop she needed lip balm so the cop handed Paris her purse and, according to the cop “As she began to open it, I saw a small bindle of what I believed to be cocaine in a clear baggie begin to fall from the purse and into my hand.” Paris then claimed the purse was not hers—of course.
The story of “it isn’t my purse (bag, jeans, wallet etc)” is not new to me or any other attorney in the criminal justice system. And sometimes it works. I actually prosecuted a case once where a guy “found” a wallet on the ground walking into a store that happened to have cocaine or meth in it. He was later caught shoplifting, arrested and searched. Well, the jury found him not guilty – maybe because I sucked at prosecuting the case but probably because the jury felt guilty for him because HIS attorney sucked (that is what they later told the bailiff.) I like to believe the bailiff’s story since it’s the only case I prosecuted that came back “not guilty.” Point is, her story could hold water. It will be interesting to see what the prosecutors do with this story.
Soon after being arrested Paris Tweeted about watching the Family Guy. Some may find that crazy but it makes sense to me for a variety of reasons. First, she could be high/drunk etc.; second, she could be honestly calm and not worried since this is not her first involvement with cops; third, she could have already spoken to her attorney; fourth, she could be trying to protect her brand. Who knows, maybe it will get her a new reality show.
What this all tells me is that she doesn’t care about her brand, her image or her self-respect. She continues to do whatever she wants and does not care or comprehend the consequences of her actions. Then again, maybe if I had that much money I would not either.
