My husband and I have struggled with the idea of getting our daughter a cell phone. While we came to the conclusion that it wasn’t the right thing for our 6 year old we still feel uneasy about her not having a way to call for help if something were to happen to her. We just don’t live in a world where I’m comfortable with her asking strangers for help.
When I got a call from Great Call asking if I’d review their 5star urgent response system, I breathed a small sigh of relief. Could this really be our answer?
Just by pressing the button Ellie will be patched through to a 5Star urgent response agent who will talk to her directly through the device. She can push that button if she’s hurt, if someone else is hurt, if she feel threatened or even if she’s doesn’t remember what time we’re picking her up.
The part that I really love is if she’s scared the agent will stay on the line with her until the situation is resolved. Sometime just knowing there’s someone there with you makes things seem less scary. If it’s an emergency that requires 911, they will connect you immediately!
Ellie can carry 5star in her backpack or keep it in her pocket. As long as she has it with her we can always locate her using GPS.
There is no perfect solution out there and of course I’m still going to worry about her, but this does give me a little piece of mind.
The price of the unit is $49.99, there’s a one-time activation charge of $35.00 and the service runs $14.99 a month. Right now they’re running a back to school special! So for the price of 4 Starbucks Ellie has away to get help if she needs it.
Did I mention I’m giving one away with a 3 month trial period?
