What an amazing month January has been. First Sundance (which I promise to organize all my photos and do a post soon) and then came the highlight for me… Trapeze Class.
I can’t believe less than 8 hours ago I was flying through the air on a trapeze in Del Mar. Now I’m stuck in the Charlotte airport, because of snow after flying through the air on a red eye.
I plan on doing another post on Circus Fund for Rock On Mommies main site, but I’m on such a high from the experience that I wanted to write a quick blog post.
I never imagined I’d have the opportunity to swing on a real trapeze. So when I got an email from Groupon with the coupon to take the class, I jumped! Apparently so did a bunch of other San Diego Moms, so we decided to make it a group thing and we had the best time!
First I strongly recommend that if you have the opportunity to take a trapeze class, do it! Second, don’t do it alone! Do it with a buch of friends who will cheer you on and laugh with you. Knowing they were down there made it so much easier to take make that jump of the platform.
Taking that initial step is a lot like any other first step into an adventure. Well, except this one we were 3 stories up with just a net and a couple ropes. It wasn’t easy to put all your faith into a bunch of people you didn’t know, even if they are professionals. I was terrified! I knew I was safe, I knew I wasn’t going to crash to the ground, but I just couldn’t get that fear out of my head. I’m not sure what made me jump, my adrenalin or not wanted to embarrass myself in front of 15 other women, and my husband. I ended up taking the jump twice, but I didn’t do the back flip! I’m so annoyed with myself for not doing the back flip! I must go back! I must complete the back flip! From the moment I left that building I’ve been thinking about going back. I think I even dreamed about it for the 2 whole hours I slept on that plane. I’m going back! I may even run away with the circus if they’ll have me.
