Did you know that over 450,000 adults in San Diego County have a below-standard level of literacy? Every year The San Diego Council on Literacy is trying to change that. The council’s network literacy programs served 73,000 adults and youth throughout the entire county of San Diego during the past year.
The San Diego Council on Literacy can not do it on their own and April 28th, is your opportunity to help. “Eat. Drink. Read.” will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Wed. April 28 with a silent auction from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The admission cost is $60 and includes wine, beer and appetizers. All proceeds will go directly to the San Diego Council on Literacy by funding instructional books needed to train literacy tutors, as well as providing children’s books for low-income families.
Culinary masters around San Diego have teamed up with the San Diego Council on Literacy for a night of food, wine, to raise awareness and funds for this growing problem. They’ve created an exciting fundraiser, “Eat. Drink. Read.,” that will highlight chefs from popular San Diego restaurants including Urban Solace, Starlite, Suite and Tender, The Marine Room, Ono Sushi, and Cafe Sevilla.
