I love Easter! I love the colors, I love the candy, I love the Easter egg hunts, I love the dresses, I love Easter hats, I love the candy (did I mention that already?) , I just love Easter. This Easter was especially great because Ellie is actually old enough to start understand. Well, understanding the Easter Bunny, baskets, eggs and the candy. We’ll address the religious aspect in a couple of years. My husband’s family is Jewish, so the whole thing is going to be a little confusing. LOL I love holidays so I’m looking forward to adding a few more to my year. We’re going to start doing the Passover thing next year as well.
This year we did the standard non-religious version of Easter Sunday. Saturday we colored Eggs, yes I used real glasses for the dye. I thought they would make for a prettier picture. Can you tell I only have one child? Sunday morning we headed downstairs to collect our Easter surprise. We had a very messy Easter Bunny this year. He left a trail of Eggs from the stairs clear into the leaving room where he left Ellie’s basket. Ellie also got her own little chair this year. After a morning of jelly beans and chocolate, the chocolate was for me and jelly beans for Daddy, we went for a Champagne Brunch at one of our favorite restaurants here in San Diego. I think Champagne Brunch is my favorite part of Easter Day. Ok maybe second favorite, I really like the candy part.
After Brunch they had an Easter Egg Hunt in the garden. It was more like and Easter Egg Grab, but it was fun to watch regardless. Ellie had a blast, got a ton of Eggs and was extremely proud of herself. Afterwards it was time to come home and take a nap in our recently converted toddler bed!!! Let me tell you, it was not easy getting toddler down for a nap after a morning of sugar. It’s really hard to keep her in a bed that she can now get out of on her own!!! I’m sure all you other mommies can relate. WOW!!! Nap is my favorite part of the day. Maybe I should do a whole blog post on naps. It would be about everything that I accomplish during naps, the little dance I do at nap time, and how much I love the Pinky Dinky Doo theme song because that means nap time is right around the corner.
After our fabulous naps it was time time to get ready for our Easter BBQ and our 3rd Easter Egg hunt of the day. 2 of Ellie friends and their parents came over for an awesome afternoon of hot dogs, corn on the cob, chips, and more candy! We also did one final egg hunt for the 3 kids in the backyard. It was my favorite of the day. To see these 3 little 2 year olds running in around our backyard picking up eggs while the bubble machine blasted bubbles all over the yard was a bit surreal. I can’t believe this is my life now. There are definetly times that miss sleeping in, and everything else that go along with being a Mommy of a 2 year old, but moments like that make it worth it.
I am so sad that Easter is over and I can’t wait until next year. Anyone out there want to clue me in on the whole Passover thing?
Next post… Bye Bye Crib, hello Big Girl bed.
