Easter Egg Hunt rules… for the parents

Dear Parents,

It’s that time of year where “those” parent come out of hiding.  It’s time for the Easter Egg Hunt.  90% of you out there know what I’m talking about.

If you’re part of the other 10% I’m here to give you some friendly help.

Every year there are a few of you who just don’t seem to follow the rules.  There are just 2 simple rules and this year the rest of us parents are putting our foot down.

1. If your child is over the age of 3, no coaching from the sideline! Most Egg Hunts are divided up by age group.  If your child can not hunt eggs with his or her own age group by the age of 3, 4, 5, or even 6 try a practice round at home.   If that doesn’t work, than skip the Egg Hunt this year.

2. DO NOT GO INTO THE EGG HUNT WITH YOUR CHILD!!!!  Seriously people!  In the video below you will notice a lady in a light blue shirt following her son around.  This was a group of 4 year olds!  Lady, it’s time to cut the umbilical cord!

The only rule for your kids should be, HAVE FUN!!!  Who cares how many eggs you get.

Seriously, folks. Let’s teach our kids to fail gracefully. We can’t rescue them their whole lives.
