I love decorating for all the different holidays, I just don’t always love or want to spend the money on what they sell in the store. I made this last year and was so excited to get it out again this year.
Canvas, acrylic paint, paint brush, buttons, heart template (I used a heavy weight pre-cut heart), art markers, and your favorite clear drying craft glue.
Tape off stripes equal distance.
With your art makers outline your stripes. This will help stop the paint from bleeding under the tape.
This step is where the fun starts! Make sure when you’re painting your stripes you keep your brush strokes horizontal. This is also going to help keep the paint from bleeding under the tape.
After the paint has dried carefully remove the tape.
Place your heart template where you want it on the canvas by gluing it down with your favorite glue. Remember, this is your canvas! If you want it off-center in the bottom right hand corner, do it!
This is the most time-consuming part of the project. I used a paint brush to apply glue a small section at a time. Simply arrange the buttons in the shape of the heart. After the 1st layer of buttons has dried glue a second layer of button to cover any bare spots and to add some dimension.
This part is completely up to you. Maybe you don’t put add a word, maybe you put a date? Your anniversary date would be really cute. I have horrible handwriting so I used stamps from a local craft store. I applied glue to the stamp with a brush, stamped it on to the canvas and then I sprinkled glitter over the glue. Once it was dry I gently brushed off the excess glitter.
There you have it!
