6 years ago Ellie was just 10 months old and quickly growing out of her infant car seat. I started to research car seats and kept coming back to the Britax Marathon. When she was just 2 weeks shy of her 1st birthday we bought the Britax and that was her seat for 4.5 years!
Did I mention that when we switched her to the Britax that we had her facing forward? 6 years ago, that was the rule of thumb. Rear facing until 12 months, then they need to be in a 5 point harness until at least 40 pounds. Wait, is that even right? Ellie is just now 40 pounds and she’s almost 7.
Now that we have Zach the rules have changed. Now they need to be rear facing until at least 2! I’ve been a bit concerned about this. We travel a ton, lots of road trips, and basically spend most of our time in the car. How am I going to keep him comfortable and entertained facing backwards until he’s 2?
When Britax asked if I’d like to review their Advocate I was more than excited! This was a great way for me to see if I could really keep Zach rear facing for another year.
There are so many safety features and great things about this Britax car seat that if I was to share all of them you would still be reading this 5 hours later. So instead I’m going to cover some of my favorite features and you can check out the other safety features here.
How comfy does he look in that seat? I’m in my car so much during the day I need him to be able to sleep in the car. The Britax Advocate has 3 recline positions which means I can find the perfect position for nap time. This also means no dread head bobbing forward! Also, The Britax height and weight allows for 49 inches and 70 pounds!!! I think we’ll be just fine in this car seat for many years.
Side Impact Protection, love this! The deep side walls contain energy-absorbing foam.
Tangled straps are one of my biggest pet peeves! They’re uncomfortable, frustrating and unsafe! This added feature is a huge selling point for me.
I always worry about leg room. Who wants to travel with their knees in their chest? I was relieved to see that Zach has leg room and extra space to grow.
In my immediate group of friends Zach is the youngest by 4 years. There are many days of the week that all the seats in my car is occupied by giggling little girls. I was relieved to see that I’ll still have room in the middle seat for another passenger.
As many of my readers already know, we travel frequently. With Ellie’s old carseat we were always dealing with the dangling latches. I’m sure I still have scars on my shins from where they use to bang against. The latch storage is key for us!
So hear is the exciting part! Thanks to Britax, I’m giving away one carseat to a lucky reader!
