I hosted a bridal shower this past weekend for a dear friend. You may have read about my hangover here. I’ve been wanting to share with you the super cute wishing tree I made for the party.
The wishing tree is a Dutch wedding custom used instead of a guest book at the reception table. Each guest fills out a tree tag with one wish they have for the couple.
I thought this was such a sweet tradition that I wanted to reproduce it for the Bridal Shower I was throwing, but with a twist on the idea. I had each guest write out one wish and one piece of advice they had for the couple. Not only is this a sweet memento for the bride, but it’s also very touching and funny for the bride to read them out loud at the shower.
I also think this is an adorable idea for a baby shower too!
It’s incredibly easy to put together.
1. Any large vase that matches your theme will work, but I love this Threshold Bubble Glass Jar from Target.
2. I used Seaglass as my vase filler, but again Target has a ton of vase fillers to choice from.
3. Iridescent tissue paper will help fill the jar after you have arranged the twigs.
4. Again, you can use what ever twig that matches your theme. Our bride just so happens to be using Cherry Blossoms as her theme inspiration. I used 5 Cherry Blossom twigs that I purchased at Pier One.
I used small envelopes, punch a hole in the corner and tide a small ribbon through the hole so it can be hung from the tree.
