This week in the blogosphere:
In a surprising turn of events, Blogher didn’t announce where they will be hosting#Blogher14. “WTH? We’ve been robbed,” screamed bloggers from Chicago rooftops. Actually, no one screamed anything. It appears no one actually minds waiting. (Except me, WTH?) But perhaps that’s because I took this year off.
The real drama from #Blogher13 came from their decision to revoke several convention passes at the last hour from bloggers who were planning to host “an unofficial and unsanctioned” event at Blogher. In advance of the revocations, Blogher posted this on their site.
Maria Bailey was one of the bloggers whose pass was revoked. She attended Blogher anyway and followed up with this post in response to having her pass taken away at the last minute and her experience of attending without a conference pass.
We came across this post written by Kim Moldofsky of Hormone-Colored Days. It’s a really interesting take on the situation and worth the read.
The Honest Truth…or somewhere in between
There is quite an uproar this week regarding The Honest Company and their perceived bullying of The Honest Toddler. The Honest Company feels as if The Honest Toddler is an infringement of their brand. The Honest Toddler has an established brand and has worked with The Honest Company in the past with no one seeming to care about the sharing of the word “honest.” Then? The Honest Toddler decided to trademark her name and all hard drives hit the fan.
Both Facebook pages, Honest Toddler, Honest Company, are afire with their own versions of why they are right and the other is wrong. Lawyers are now involved. The blogosphere is in an uproar and everyone is taking sides. The Honest Company owns HonestToddler.com and they have put an explanation there. The Honest Toddler owns TheHonestToddler.com and you can check out her site there. Honestly? I’m not even involved and I need a drink.
For an excellent explanation of all of it, you can go to Jessica Gottlieb’s post on the subject.
That’s this week’s BlogHaps. Log back on next Tuesday for more.
