This week’s blogger of the week is the lovely creator of MomSpark, Amy Bellgardt.
Amy is a work-at-home Oklahoma mom of two boys and wife to a handsome video producer. In 2008, she started a blog, MomSpark.net, as a way to connect with fellow moms who were experiencing the same joys and challenges of parenting. Amy quickly found the community and support she needed in the social media and blogging world.
Mom Spark now consists of three writers and has a wide range of articles for moms that include recipes, product reviews, arts, crafts, travel, blogging advice, design and a community forum. In addition, Mom Spark regularly works with brands on ambassador programs, online campaigns, and guest articles.
In August 2010, Amy launched a social media and marketing company, Mom Spark Media, which helps mom bloggers further their blogging paths by offering instructional blogging and social media courses, as well as unique opportunities to work with brands.
Her answers to the MomSmack Six Pack.
1. If you could trade lives with another blogger for one week, who would it be and why?
Ree Drummond from The Pioneer Woman. I adore Ree’s life on the ranch, her cooking show on the Food Network, her mad photography skills, and the fact that she’s a fellow Okie. I would probably get her fired if I took over her roles, though.
My first is Desiree Fawn from sofawned.com. Desiree is a lifestyle blogger with unique flavor, as well as a long time contributor on Mom Spark. Her modern style and take on life is special. She is also a great friend of mine.
My second choice is Jillian Owens from ReFashionista.net, which is a new find for me. Jillian finds unattractive clothing from thrift stores and recreates them into adorable, modern pieces. I am extremely jealous of her creativity and crazy sewing skills.
3. What advice would you give to Andrew Weiner’s wife, Huma?
Stay away from weiners. And wieners.
4. Who is your celebrity crush right now? You can’t choose Andrew Weiner.
I’ve had a nerd crush on Benedict Cumberbatch lately. He’s a badass in the BBC series Sherlock and plays an amazing Khan in the latest Star Trek movie.
5. Make up a word for us and tell us what it means?
One of my favorite non-words is “jerkules”, pronounced like “hercules.” It means you are being a jerk.
6. One piece of advice you think every woman should take?
Don’t rely on others to make your dreams happen. Just do it.
