The first time I created a baby registry, I had no idea where to begin. I put the most ridiculous things on there – like toys that Ellie wouldn’t use for years. I missed putting blankets, wipes, bottles and pretty much all of the important everyday items on there. Toddler toys are cute, but they won’t clean an infant’s bottom at 2:30 in the morning. Ok, maybe it could and I may have been desperate enough to try it once or twice, but I don’t recommend it. I ended up throwing away a really cute stuffy.
I was approached by BabyCenter (who is sponsoring this post) to put together a Target Baby Registry, that not only represents my style, but as a 3rd time mom, illustrates what I would do differently this time around.
We will soon be welcoming our 3rd baby into our family. By this point, I know what works for us and what doesn’t. For example, some people don’t see a need for a changing table. We think a changing table/station is a must! With Ellie, I didn’t purchase the unfolded cloth diapers because we were going to use disposable. Little did I know that those cloth diapers make for the best burp cloths!
With Zach, I made far better choices. I knew I wouldn’t need a rattle, but I couldn’t have enough muslin swaddle blankets. I still made silly choices, but I mean it was almost 6 years in between having babies.
This time my goal is to make our lives as easy as possible with the least amount of clutter as possible.
Diapers changing must haves. Because this is our 3rd, we already have a changing table and we have a diaper service, but that doesn’t mean we have everything we need.
Ubbi Diaper Pail – Don’t skimp on the diaper pail! I love this Ubbi Diaper Pail!
Circo Plush Popcorn Changing Pad Cover – Get 2!!! Inevitably, there will be those very messy diapers! And of course, don’t forget the pad!
Munchkin Waterproof Changing Pad Liners – These waterproof pads are life savers! Not only do I use them on the changing table, but I also use them at the 2 other changing stations in the house. Ask for at least 2 packs!
Aveeno Baby Soothing Relief Diaper Rash Cream – Every baby gets diaper rash and for some reason I never had diaper rash cream when I needed it! We happen to love Aveeno, but you pick what works best for you. Just don’t forget to ask for tube because at some point you will need it!
Pampers Sensitive Baby Wipes – You can never have enough wipes. Let me say that again, you can NEVER have enough baby wipes! You’ll quickly discover they have more than one function and I may have used one to clean chocolate off my cream colored couch today.
Bath Time! Again, I always forget, you have to bathe the baby.
4moms Infant Bath Tub – Love this tub – clean water in, dirty water out. Babies are slippery and sometimes the sink just doesn’t work for me.
Carters Washcloth Set – Just like blankets, you can never have enough washcloths!
Carters Newborn 2 Pack Towel – I love wrapping a new baby up in a clean warm towel.
Shampoo and Bath Soaps – I have 2 favorite brands: I love the California Baby shampoos and the Aveeno Soothing Bath works miracles on Zach’s sensitive skin. I don’t like anything that has a super strong fragrance and both of these brands have a very light, pleasant scent.
American Red Cross Health and Grooming Kit – I know that no one likes this part, but you have to trim the nails and get those boogies. Make sure you register for a kit. Trust me, you’ll forget something when you need it if you don’t have a one.
Getting baby to sleep. Now that baby is clean and comfy, it’s time to sleep!
Baby Bjorn Bassinet – Let’s face it, most babies do not go straight into a crib. In our house, the newborns sleep in a bassinet by our bed until they’re about 3 to 6 months. I love the Baby Bjorn bassinet!
Summer Infant SwaddleMe – For us, a swaddled baby sleeps longer. These swaddles are amazing because they let the hips and legs go free, but hold the arms tight to the body which is what babies like.
SwaddleDesigns Muslin Blankets – Having a baby during the summer months means that the warm blankets can just be too much. These light muslin blankets are perfect for the warm summer months.
WiFi Baby Monitor – I love our Wifi Baby Monitor! We can actually get a live feed into the nursery on our SmartPhones no matter where we are. It’s great when my husband is out of town and wants to peek in on the baby.
Sleep and Breathing Monitor – Just because this is our 3rd baby doesn’t mean that we’ve relaxed any more than our first time around. I can’t count the number of times I’ve woken up in the middle of the night and poked a sleeping baby just to make sure they were breathing!
Ok, are you overwhelmed yet? This isn’t even everything. Take a peek at the rest of my registry here.
